Frequently Asked Questions

What are the different options for dining at Cabrini?

Do Students have to have a meal plan?
Currently, all resident students are required to participate in a meal plan.

How do I get a meal plan?
Students enroll in a meal plan when they register for classes in the fall and spring. Upper classman have the option to pick which plan best serves their needs.

What are the hours of operation?
You can find current hours of operation on the locations page.

What are meal exchanges?
Meal exchange is when you use your meal option to eat at Jazzman’s, our retail outlet. Students are allotted $3.00 for Breakfast, $5.00 for Lunch and $5.00 Dinner.

What are flex dollars?
Flex dollars are monies that are assigned to your meal plan that allow you to pay for meals in between meal exchange periods or to pay for meals that exceed your meal exchange dollars.

What’s a Cav Card?
A Cavalier (Cav) Card is a declining balance card that commuter students and faculty purchase in increments of $25 to use in The Marketplace, Sandellas or at Jazzman’s.

If I have a meal plan, do I need a Cav Card?
No.

What if I have a special dietary need or I am on a medically restricted diet?
Dining Services recommends that you come to our office to introduce yourself and inform us what we need to do to assist you with you special dietary needs.

What kind of options are there for vegetarians?
We have an extensive salad bar, and there are always 2 vegetables and starches, a variety of vegetarian pizzas and veggie burgers that will be made to order when requested. Also, it is recommended that you please review the procedure above.

Can I bring guests to the Dining Hall?
Yes. Breakfast is $3.95, Lunch is $5.95 and Dinner is $6.95 for an all you can eat buffet.

Can my parents or my guest eat off of my meal card?
Yes, by exercising your flexible spending that is attached to your meal plan.

If I am going off campus for a college sponsored program or activity and I am going to miss a meal, what can I do?
Normally, the office that is sponsoring the activity will request a box meal for students that are attending the event. If this is not the case, please call ahead to Dining Services at ext. 8505, with the following information: name, ID #, meal and the time you need to pick you meal. Dining Services will have a box meal ready for you.

Does the Dining Hall serve the same food daily?
Dining Services offers a variety of menus daily and weekly. However, we do serve some popular items consistently like pizza, burger, fries and pasta.

If I am sick and cannot come to the Dining Hall for a meal, can I have a roommate or friend pick something up for me?
Yes. Please call ahead to Dining Services at ext. 8505, with the following information: name, ID #, meal, time your friend needs to pick the meal and their name. Dining Services will have a box meal ready for you.

Does Dining Services hire student employees? If so, what jobs are available and how do I apply?
Yes, we encourage students to assist us on a part-time basis. Jobs that are available include servers and utility personnel. To apply, come to the Dining Services office with your roster and fill out an application.

If I have suggestions for Dining Services, how I can I submit them?
You are encouraged to drop us a note, email us or stop into our office and introduce yourself and let us know what suggestions that you might have.

Who do I contact if I have a problem or concern with my meal?
You are encouraged to stop in to the Dining Services offices and let us know what we can do to assist you.
